This shot is all about raw speed and straight-up focus.

We feel bad for anyone in his way with that glare.

Video of the Day

While the rest of us are out here layering up like the Michelin Man just to check the mail, Dan Booker is in Tasmania, living in a never-ending summer absolutely torching trails.

This dude is just fast… like blink-and-you-miss-him fast.

If speed limits applied to mountain bikes, he’d be getting tickets in every hemisphere.

Athlete Profile - Asa Vermette: The Young Phenom Who’s Making Everyone Else Look Slow

PC: Graeme Murray

Some kids grow up playing video games.

Asa Vermette grew up turning his local trails into a personal World Cup circuit.

Hailing from Durango, Colorado (a place where the toddlers probably have better bike handling than most adults) Asa has been on two wheels longer than he can remember.

With parents who were both mountain bikers, he was on a motorbike by age 3 and a strider bike by age 4.

From that point on, there was no turning back—just full send ahead.

Asa’s love for speed and style was evident early on collecting podiums like Pokémon cards.

When Asa started racing, it became clear pretty fast: the kid was built differently.

In 2024, during his first year in the junior category, he won three out of five Junior Men's World Cup races, letting the world know he was here to win.

Then, at the 2024 UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Andorra, he sealed the deal, taking the Junior Men’s Downhill World Championship title.

The last time an American took that top step in this category? Over a decade ago. Asa basically said, “Yeah, we’re bringing this one home.”

At Red Bull Rampage 2024, Asa’s talent officially reached the “we need to sponsor this kid immediately” level.

As he stood among freeride legends, the Red Bull crew handed him the helmet.

You know, the one that officially says, “Congrats, you’re now a certified mountain bike badass.”

If it wasn’t clear before, it was now: Asa had officially arrived.

You’d think Asa would just stick to DH and keep collecting trophies, but no.

He’s also dabbling in enduro, BMX, and even dirt bikes.

Turns out, he’s not just good at going fast in one discipline; he’s fast everywhere.

If there’s a bike involved, Asa will find a way to shred it.

Now that Asa’s stepping into the elite ranks, all eyes are on him.

Will he keep making the rest of the field look slow? Probably.

Will he keep winning? Almost definitely.

With Red Bull backing him and a racing résumé that would make a veteran jealous, Asa’s on track to become one of the biggest names in downhill.

PC: Nick Waygood

Despite all the wins, Asa isn’t out here acting like a big shot.

Everyone who meets him says the same thing: down-to-earth, humble, and just stoked to ride bikes.

He’s the kind of guy who could smash your race time by 20 seconds and then help you fix a flat tire after.

From a small-town ripper in Durango to a World Champion with a Red Bull helmet, Asa Vermette is the future of downhill racing.

If you haven’t been paying attention yet, now’s the time.

The kid is fast, fearless, and making history one ridiculous race run at a time.

Black Diamond difficulty with a double black diamond vote? Yeah, this trail means business.

Bring your A-game and your downhill bike for this one.
