Industry Update - Nukeproof Joins the Belgian Party: Waffles, Frites, and Bikes
In a plot twist worthy of a soap opera, Nukeproof has been scooped up by the Belgian Cycling Factory (BCF), the proud parents of Ridley and Eddy Merckx bikes.
Apparently, the folks at BCF decided their lineup needed a bit more boom, and who better than Nukeproof to bring the noise?
Quick recap: Founded in 1990, Nukeproof went from a scrappy U.S. startup to a full-blown mountain bike heavyweight.
Known for progressive geometry, race-winning designs, and durability that laughs in the face of rock gardens, their bikes are built to take a beating and keep on sending.
It’s no wonder their rigs are a regular sight on World Cup Downhill and Enduro World Series podiums.
Nukeproof was previously snatched up by Frasers Group last March when they acquired Wiggle, Chain Reaction Cycles, and their in-house brands (including Nukeproof) for under £10 million.
Yep, that’s a steal. That’s 2,000 Enduro bikes that cost £5,000. Wow!
Now, BCF has stepped in, reportedly tossing in some Euros (and maybe a few crates of Trappist beer) to claim the brand.
BCF’s spokesperson called it “an exciting new chapter,” with plans to supercharge Nukeproof’s future.
Nukeproof fans, breathe easy.
The brand’s bombproof reputation isn’t going anywhere.
If anything, we’re looking at a fusion of British grit and Belgian flair—bikes tough enough to shred the gnarliest trails, then roll you straight to a waffle stand and a pint.
