Natural Selection Bike - What is it? Who’s riding? When is it happening?
What is it?
What happens when you take the craziest snowboard competition and throw it into the mountain biking world? You get Natural Selection Bike—a mind-blowing freeride event where creativity, skill, and a healthy disregard for self-preservation collide.
The concept? Riders tackle raw, natural terrain with style and flow, shaping their lines as they go. Think big sends, sketchy landings, and more airtime than your average transcontinental flight.
Who’s riding? Only the best of the best. We’re talking freeride legends, World Cup racers, and that one rider in every group who’s always saying, "I bet I can hit that."
When’s it happening?
Mark your calendars and cancel your Valentine’s Day plans—Natural Selection Bike kicks off with the Dream Track qualifier on February 7, 2025. Here, four riders will earn their golden tickets to the main event. The big show goes down on February 15, 2025, with a one-day final at Mt. Dewar in Queenstown, where the public can witness the carnage firsthand (bring snacks and a cowbell).
Can’t make it to New Zealand? No worries. The finals will broadcast "as live" on Red Bull TV and YouTube, and if you’re running late, you can catch it on demand starting March 5. By then, you’ll already know who won, but let’s be honest—you’re tuning in to see the lines, the hucks, and the crashes anyway.

Ninja Cougar - Whistler BC
Ninja Cougar is one of those trails that feels like it’s winking at you the whole way down. You can hop on it right from A-Line at the top (because who doesn’t love options?) or dive in after a few switchbacks on B-Line.
Once you’re in, it’s all about that fun, flowy vibe—like a warm-up lap, but cooler because it connects you to Fade to Black and Karate Monkey. Basically, it’s the perfect way to start a session or link up some absolute classics. Bonus points if you throw in a ninja kick mid-run for style.
