How many bikes does Specialized sell? - The Send It Daily - 259

Hello Tuesday and hello big "Send It" energy! Ever wonder how many bikes Specialized sells? We’ve got some thoughts on that. Plus, a snapshot of what riding with your bestie feels like, the ultimate Specialized demo (spoiler: it's 🔥), and a whole lot more. Buckle up—this ride’s about to get good. Let’s Send It 👇

Photo of the Day

First - For all of you who voted yesterday—wow, what a nail-biter. Photo 1 and Photo 3 were neck-and-neck, but in the final hours, Photo 3 pulled ahead and snatched the crown. Thanks for playing along!

But now on to today’s Photo of the Day. Riding solo is cool, but riding with your BFF? The best. Enter Thomas Genon & Eliott Lapotre, with a reminder that two wheels are better when there are four of them shredding side by side.

Haven’t seen it? Stop what you’re doing, click here, and prepare to feel simultaneously inspired and slightly jealous. Warning: may cause an irresistible urge to call up your riding buddy and plan a session.

Video of the Day

Ok, we’ll admit it. We were half-watching this, half-answering emails, and probably halfway into a snack and then—BAM—0:52 hits, and suddenly we’re all in.

Brendan and Ross, you’ve officially stolen our attention span (a rare feat in the TikTok age). Major props on the edit.

Question of the Day

How many bikes does Specialized sell?

We tried to find out exactly how many mountain bikes Specialized sells every year. Our “friends on the inside” wouldn’t give us an exact number but industry estimates suggest they move upwards of 500,000 bikes annually, and with high-performance mountain bikes going for anywhere between $3,000 to $12,000, their revenue easily hits the $500M to $1B range. That’s a lot of carbon!

For perspective:

Specialized sells enough bikes each year to fill every bike rack in Amsterdam. Twice. (And that’s saying something—Amsterdam has more bikes than people.)

If you lined up all the Specialized bikes sold annually, they’d stretch longer than the Tour de France route. (Which is over 2,100 miles, for those keeping track.)

Specialized sells enough tires annually to circle the globe… at least once. (That’s 24,901 miles of tread, for all you fact-checkers.)

And if you bought a $12,000 S-Works bike… congrats, you just spent more on two wheels than most people spend on four.

Big kudos to Specialized for turning the joy of shredding trails into a billion-dollar empire. Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to sell some NFTs to fund our new Stumpjumper.

Bike Porn

Since we talked Specialized sales numbers today, we thought it was only fitting to feature the baddest Specialized bike out there - Szymon’s Demo for Rampage. This gravity-defying work of art designed to send it off cliffs that would make your mom yell, “Absolutely not!”

Dear god 🤤

Trail of the Day

Slim Shady (North)- Sedona

Will the real Slim Shady please stand up? This trail does, with a mix of 10% beginner, 70% intermediate, and 20% advanced sections that'll keep you on your toes. It twists and turns through dry washes, with packed dirt, rocky beats, and slickrock solos where you can freestyle your own line.

Ride it northbound for the best flow, and use it to connect to other epic loops. Whether you’re dropping bars or just your seat post, this trail’s got the rhythm you need.

Laugh of the Day

The best way to commute to the trail head 😂
