A tribute to Stevie Smith - The Send It Daily - 260

We’ve got a tribute to one of the most iconic riders to ever hit the trails, a video that’s basically Picasso on wheels, and audio ear candy. Oh, and more MTB goodness than you can handle. Let’s Send It 👇

Photo of the Day

This isn’t just a photo—it’s THE photo. The one where Stevie Smith crossed the finish line in Leogang, Austria, on September 22, 2013, to claim the UCI Downhill World Cup overall title.

Why’s this so legendary? Stevie became the first Canadian ever to take home the crown. He didn’t just ride downhill; he made history and gave every aspiring Canadian sender a new benchmark to chase.

And because we’re all about the feels today, we’re featuring the video “A Letter To Stevie” below. It’s a must-watch tribute that was released yesterday.

Check out the vid below and take a moment to honor The Chainsaw. Stevie might’ve been fast on the bike, but his legacy? Timeless.

A Letter to Stevie

Stevie Smith wasn’t just fast—he was a force of nature. Growing up in Nanaimo, BC, he shredded trails with speed, skill, and a fearless vibe that made him one of the greatest downhill racers of his time.

In 2013, Stevie did the unthinkable: he became the first Canadian male to win the UCI Downhill World Cup overall title. Translation: he made history, and he did it with style.

Stevie and fellow racer Brook Macdonald formed an unbreakable bond over the years, sharing rides, races, and a friendship that defined the sport.

When Stevie passed in 2016, the mountain biking world lost not just a racer, but a hero and inspiration. But his legacy lives on. Through the Stevie Smith Legacy Foundation, his mission continues: inspiring Canada’s next generation of gravity athletes to chase their dreams.

In the spirit of Giving Tuesday yesterday, we encourage you to check out the foundation and donate here: www.steviesmithlegacy.com.

Stevie might be gone, but his spirit’s still out there—on every descent, every jump, and every rider chasing the podium.
